Andrea LaFlamme
Andrea LaFlamme is a feminist public health professor who has spent her life fighting for the underdog in Maine’s communities. No one recruited her to run for office; she’s running for the U.S. Senate because she knows what Mainers need and right now those needs are not being met by our current leadership or candidates.
LaFlamme is the daughter of a Marine and was married to an Army medic during his wartime deployment to Afghanistan. A product of Maine’s public schools, she stayed in Maine to get her masters’ degree in public health, because her goal has always been to serve the community. She’s a teacher, an advocate, and a public health expert looking to make a difference.
LaFlamme is the only candidate in Maine’s Senate race who is an elected union leader—she’s a chapter president with MSEA-SEIU Local 1989, where she represents adjunct professors at all of Maine’s Community Colleges. As chapter president, she recently helped members secure 4% annual raises from management. Before that, she was elected as the youngest president in the history of Mabel Wadsworth Center (a local health center providing abortion care) where she championed their expansion of services to include care for trans folks and people of all genders. Mabel Wadsworth Center is the only private, not-for-profit, free-standing feminist health center in Maine.
The experience from decades spent working in education and municipal health distinguishes Andrea LaFlamme from the other candidates in the race. She’s a proven leader and community advocate who has put in the work, so you can trust that she’s going to keep fighting for you in the U.S. Senate.
