Chelsey Hockett
Chelsey Hockett is running for Congress because families from East Dallas to East Texas are being squeezed from every direction while billionaires and corporations keep walking away with everything.
After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Chelsey watched the country roll backward on bodily autonomy. Not long after, she left her job when the cost of childcare started pushing her family into debt. That collision of politics and real life made something very clear to her: working people are expected to absorb every broken system while the people at the top never feel the consequences.
Chelsey sees the damage up close. Kids growing up with fewer protections and fewer opportunities. Seniors skipping care and cutting meals to survive. Family farms getting bought out by investors who don’t live on the land. Water being treated like a commodity instead of a public necessity. Workers getting shortchanged by corporations that extract labor and dodge responsibility.
She’s worked every position in restaurants across the country, from the Midwest to the Deep South, alongside people just starting out and people keeping entire businesses running. She also comes from a union family and worked directly with union pilots and mechanics on compliance in the airline industry. She understands what fair standards, collective power, and accountability actually look like on the ground.
Chelsey doesn’t sugarcoat reality or pretend politics should be polite. She asks hard questions, listens when she doesn’t have the answer, and brings government out of closed rooms and into plain language regular people can actually use. If that creates friction with entrenched power, she’s okay being the friction.
