Matt Ortega
Matt Ortega is a husband, father, small business owner, and union member running for Congress in California’s 14th Congressional District. He’s also a longtime progressive organizer with local, statewide, and national political experience. A self-taught designer and developer since 12, Matt parlayed a childhood hobby into a successful career and small business.
Before his run for Congress, Matt served at the Democratic National Committee to elect Barack Obama in 2008 and was digital communications director for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign during the 2016 primary. Through his twenty year career, he’s worked alongside labor unions, environmental groups, veterans, and immigration organizations fighting for better pay, better health care, a livable planet, and freedom for all.
Our nation stands at an inflection point in its history. Life is expensive and liberty is vulnerable. Our system is broken. The administration has its knee on our necks while the rich and powerful pick our pockets. Matt and his wife hold good-paying jobs but homeownership is out of reach for them. With two sons, child care is so expensive, they could only send one to child care part-time. It’s unfair, it’s unsustainable, and it must end.
