Reed Showalter was born-and-raised in Oak Park, and now lives in the West Loop with his wife, Marina, and their two dogs. Reed is an attorney and advocate running for Congress in Illinois’ 7th District to take on the oligarchs driving up prices and corrupting our democracy. Reed saw how the system is rigged against working families when his father lost his job in the 2008 crash. Since then he has fought corporate power throughout his career. He took on reckless traders at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, defended tenants’ right to housing at Chicago Legal Aid, and served on the House Judiciary Committee. Reed has continued that fight at the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, and as a senior policy advisor in the White House National Economic Council—taking on corporate power, lowering costs, and standing up for people against the oligarchs corrupting our democracy.
