William Compton
William Compton is a teacher, community advocate, and Democratic candidate for Congress in Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District who believes courage in public office means telling the truth and putting the Constitution above party or personal ambition.
William Compton is committed to accountability, the rule of law, and the principle that no one is above the Constitution. He supports impeachment as a necessary constitutional tool when elected officials abuse power, obstruct justice, or betray the public trust. William believes that defending democracy requires moral clarity and the willingness to act, even when it is politically difficult.
William’s commitment to accountability is not theoretical—it is lived experience. In Plum Springs, he fought corruption head-on by demanding transparency and accountability when a former mayor stole taxpayer funds. Rather than looking the other way, William stood up for residents, helped shine a light on wrongdoing, and worked to ensure the public knew the truth. That experience reinforced his belief that democracy only works when citizens and leaders are willing to challenge corruption at every level of government.
A lifelong advocate for rural communities, William currently serves as the Chair of the Democratic Rural Council of Kentucky, where he works to amplify rural voices, strengthen local organizing, and ensure that rural Kentuckians are not forgotten or written off by those in power. His leadership reflects a deep understanding that rural communities deserve honest representation, economic opportunity, and respect.
William’s career as an educator has grounded him in service, fairness, and responsibility. He has spent years showing up, listening to working families across Kentucky, and advocating for policies that put people first instead of corporations or special interests.
In Congress, William Compton will fight to protect democratic institutions, strengthen ethics and transparency, and ensure government works for everyday Americans. His candidacy is rooted in the belief that courage is not about partisan gain, but about standing up for what is right when it matters most.
William Compton is running to be a voice for accountability, integrity, and constitutional democracy—and to prove that courage still has a place in American politics.
